Connecting Bank Accounts

Automatic Bank Connection

Cisti Finance supports automatic bank connection via Plaid, which lets you securely link your bank account and import transactions automatically — without manually downloading CSV files.

Supported Banks

Plaid supports most major Irish and UK banks, including AIB, Bank of Ireland, Revolut, and N26. The full list of supported institutions is shown during the connection flow.

How to Connect a Bank

  1. Go to Accounts in the menu.
  2. Click Connect Bank (or the Plaid button on an existing account).
  3. Search for your bank and follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate.
  4. Choose which accounts to link.
  5. Cisti Finance will import your recent transactions automatically.

What Data Is Shared?

Plaid connects to your bank using read-only access. Cisti Finance can see:

  • Account balances.
  • Transaction history.

It cannot initiate payments or make any changes to your bank account.

Refreshing Transactions

Bank connections are refreshed periodically. To trigger a manual refresh, go to Accounts and click the sync icon on your connected account.

Disconnecting a Bank

To remove a bank connection, go to Accounts, open the account settings, and click Disconnect. Your existing imported transactions are retained, but no new transactions will be synced.

Troubleshooting

If your bank connection stops working (common after a bank app update), you may need to reconnect. The Needs Attention panel on the dashboard will alert you if a connection requires action.

Without Plaid

If you prefer not to use automatic connection, you can:

  • Enter transactions manually.
  • Import a CSV file exported from your bank (supported by most Irish banks).
